Tamil Tiger rebels said on Sunday they killed at least 60 government soldiers
during a counterattack outside their political capital
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam said in a statement through the pro-rebel Tamilnet website that they had captured the bodies of 12 soldiers while another 150 troops were wounded in heavy fighting on Saturday. The Tigers did not give details of their own casualties, but the defence ministry said the guerrillas suffered "heavy damages" when troops hit back.
